Climbing Orchid Birthday

The two things I was most excited about in the new Stampin' Up! 2017-2018 catalog are the stamp set Climbing Orchid and the Orchid Builder Framelits Dies.  I also couldn't wait to try the Embossing Paste.  Here is my creation using all of the above.

Here is a look at the Climbing Orchid bundle.  Save 10% when you order the two items as a bundle

The new Lemon Lime Twist is such a fun color!  I used Peekaboo Peach for the centers of the orchids.  The branches are stamped in Chocolate Chip.

The Embossing Paste was so easy to use and I love the results.  I used one of the Pattern Party Decorative Masks and spread the paste.  It dried very fast.  Be sure to clean your tools ASAP!

I used a stylus to add some life to the petals and I used Stampin' Dimensionals to mount the pieces together and when I added them to the card.

Later I decided to add a greeting.  I love the greetings in the set, but needed a birthday card so used a greeting from Beautiful Bouquet.  What do you think, is is better with the greeting or without?

Look what the Stampin' Up! concept artists made

Window Shopping for a Birthday Card

I have been absent from my blog.  I've been traveling but my plan was to create and blog on a regular basis.  Obviously that did not happen.  WiFi in many places was barely able to download emails and creative time was limited.  It's great to be back creating and posting!

I did manage to get this card made for my Dad.  It felt good to get my hands inky and give my Big Shot a workout.

For this card I stuck with Basic Black and Whisper White.  I used Whisper White Thick for the card base (please ignore the bent corner).  The thicker card stock makes such a difference as a card base.  I'm so excited that Stampin' Up! has added Very Vanilla Thick to the new catalog as well!

I used the candle element from the Window Box Thinlits and the Stitched Shapes Framelits to cut the  focal piece.  The Stitched Shapes Framelits cut and add a stitched look dot pattern all at once. There was a scrap piece of Gold Foil Paper on my table and I cut the candles a second time and used just the flame flames.  The Happy Birthday greeting is from the Window Shopping stamp set.  It is one of my favorite HP greetings!

I thought it needed a little something so I tied some Linen Thread onto the panel.  The card was made for my Dad and the thread seemed a more masculine touch than a ribbon.  I resisted the urge to add glitter or glimmer.  It was not easy!

Thanks for looking!  I'm anxious to show you some projects from the new catalog now that I'm home.

When you place your order for these products remember to use the June Host Code, SDNWEGE3, when placing your order.  However, if your order is $150 or more there is no need to use the code, you will qualify for free product at that point!

Be sure to check out the new catalog.  It is beautiful.

Happy stamping

Debbie
