Swirly Scribbles Watercolor Card

This watercolor background is very fun to do -- it's still a work in progress, I think, but I thought I'd share anyway.  I used Watercolor Paper and my Aqua Painter with a variety of ink colors; Tempting Turquoise, Peek-a-boo Peach, Flirty Flamingo and Rose Red (at least I think those are the colors!).

After water coloring the background I used the Swirly Scribbles Thinlit to cut the swirl.  I kept all the little pieces

Add some Whisper White flowers cut from Botanical Builder Framelits and the "hello" from Hello You Thinlits cut from Tip Top Taupe Card Stock.  Painted on some Clear Wink of Stella 'cause who doesn't love a touch of glimmer.

I cut several more of the swirl and glued them together one on top of the other with "green glue" aka Tombow Multipurpose Adhesive, gluing the watercolor paper swirl on the top.  That layered piece was glued back onto the card and the bits and pieces added.  Some Pearl Basic Jewels finish it off.  Card base is Tip Top Taupe.

Quick Easy Elegant Thank You

Can you ever have enough thank you cards on hand?  I always take a couple with me when I travel. This one uses a portion of the Bloomin' Heart Thinlits and Crumb Cake Card Stock.  I love the tone on tone look it gives. The greeting is from One Big Meaning and stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.

Clear Wink of Stella adds a little shimmer to the layered flowers.  I added a few Pearl Basic Jewels.  I'm thinking the next one like this I make I won't use dimensionals to pop up the flowers.

Hope you enjoy this fast and easy thank you card!

Tip:  Stampin' Up! states the Precision Base Plate is required for the Bloomin' Heart Thinlit and other detailed thinlits.  I find that it helps to run the die through twice and using the Die Brush really helps get all the little pieces out

Santa's Sleigh, Oh Deer!

Here is another peek at a bundle, Santa's Sleigh and the coordinating thinlits, from the Holiday Catalog, available September 1.

Using the "selective embossing" method I embossed a circle of snowflakes with the Softly Falling Embossing Folder.  I used the largest circle in the Layering Circles Framelits to make a template so I could pierce the circle with the Paper Piercing Tool.

The trees are stamped with Always Artichoke Ink onto Whisper White Card Stock. One is stamped directly on the card layer, the other two are die cut.  The deer is stamped onto Tip Top Taupe Card Stock with Early Espresso Ink.  I am beginning to think I like Tip Top Taupe more than Crumb Cake and I LOVE Crumb Cake!  Which is your favorite?  I stamped the greeting in Real Red and cut the words apart.  The Red Jingle Bell (available September 1) is tied on with Linen Thread.

The Blender Pen was using to pull a little color onto the branches and I frosted the edges with the Clear Wink of Stella.  I added a layer of Always Artichoke Card Stock between the two Whisper White layers.

Thank you for looking!  Are you getting excited for this catalog?

Watercolor Christmas Sneak Peek

The holidays are just around the corner. Non traditional colors for Christmas cards are a favorite of mine.  I used the stamp set Wonderful Year from the Holiday Catalog available September 1. The bold greetings with the hand lettered brush script look are beautiful!  Using Pool Party paired with Silver Foil gave it the Wintry feel I was going for.

I used my Aqua Painter and the Pool Party Reinker to paint the background onto Watercolor Paper The snowflakes are from the Flurry of Wishes stamp set, stamped in Pool Party Classic Ink.  I masked the watercolor and stamped the snowflakes.  The greeting is stamped over the watercolor in Versamark and heat embossed with Whisper White Stampin' Emboss Powder

I added a few embellishments -- Rhinestone JewelsSilver Metallic Thread and a strip of washi tape from the Affectionately Yours collection.

Tip:  Cut a shape or 2 out of the center of the Silver Foil Sheet.  It keeps the card from being too heavy and makes this paper go further.

Sweet Haunted Halloween Home Sneak Peek

Don't you just love decorating for Halloween?  This little house is getting me in the mood!  I'm going to make a few and fill them with treats for some special trick-or-treaters.

I used the Sweet Home Stamp Set and Home Sweet Home Thinlits Dies.  This bundle is in the Holiday Catalog that will be available September 1.  As a demonstrator I get to order product before it is available to customers. Ask me how you can be on my team.

The walls are Basic Gray, the Trick or Treat banner is Smoky Slate.  I used Soft Suede Classic Ink and my Blender Pen to add some grunge to the banner, a sponge dauber and Soft Suede Ink "spookified" the door a bit. I made a brick path with the perfectly beveled rectangles leftover from cutting windows.

I immediately thought of the bare tree in the limited edition Beautiful Branches & Thoughtful Branches Bundle, which is a versatile set but only available through August 31, or while supplies last.

I added some Fall flowers to the window box using the Tree Builder Punch.  The spider web and ghosts are stamped in Versamark and Embossed with White Embossing Powder.   There is a die for the ghost but the spider web needed to be fussy cut.

The windows are vellum colored using the Blender Pens with So Saffron & Pumpkin Pie. I think I need a whole forest of these bare trees!

Tip:  For the peak of the roof I folded a piece of Basic Black Card Stock, put the fold just inside of the cutting line of the die so I have a single piece for that peak

Balloon Celebration Birthday

Earlier this year I got a lovely birthday card from my sister. I decided to copy it with current paper. You can see her card below. My CASEd version features Night of Navy and Whisper White Card Stock , a clean crisp color combo.

Balloons make me happy so they are a go to element for birthday cards!  I think this card would be great for men as well, though I might leave off the pearls for a guy.

I used the fabulous Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper and the larger balloon from the Balloon Bouquet Punch, mounting them with Dimensionals.

The strings and greeting are from the photopolymer set Balloon Celebration and stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink

To give the balloons some dimension I used a stylus on the back side of the punches to give them a convex shape.  I also added a punched vellum balloon add a layer to one balloon.  I added some Silver Metallic Thread and Pearl Basic Jewels

This is a great way to use those scrap strips of Designer Series Paper.

Tip:  When punching vellum layer the vellum over printer paper and punch through both -- you'll get a cleaner punched shape.

Here is my inspiration. In this card the pink balloon is stamped and a vellum balloon is added over the top.

Here's to Cheers & Cheerful Tags Framelits Wine Bottle Tag -- Sneak Peek

This Here's to Cheers bundle is great and it's not just for Christmas and the holidays. I made a label to put on a bottle of wine I just shared with a friend who has been so helpful lately.

I cut one of the tags out of Whisper White Card Stock, the decorative piece out of the stunning soon-to-be-available (September 1) Copper Foil Paper.  Stamped the Cheers image in Versamark and embossed with Copper Embossing Powder. I cut that image from the Lots of Labels Framelits.  I threaded on some Delightful Dijon ribbon from the soon-to-be-available 3/8" Ribbon Trio Pack.

A fun thing I did on this card was emboss some of the Pearl Basic Jewels with the Copper Embossing Powder.

Slip that label onto your bottle and voila it's ready for gift giving.

Oh...did you notice that something is missing from the greeting?  I masked, with my trusty Post it Note, the part of the greeting I didn't want to stamp.  I inked the stamp, removed the paper (don't forget this!) and stamped that select part of the image!

I am saving all those little pieces of copper foil (gasp) waste. I think they will make a fabulous accent.

Shimmery White Detailed Floral Thinlit Wedding Card

The Detailed Floral Thinlit makes this easy card look so elegant. I used Shimmery White Card Stock which gives it some shimmer and it contrasts a bit more against the Whisper White card base.  White on white is a favorite combo of mine!

I stamped the greeting "Best Wishes" from the Blooms & Wishes stamp set in Basic Gray.  I tied on my favorite ribbon -- 1/4"Natural Trim and added a bit of Silver Metallic Thread and a Metallic Enamel Heart.

Change the greeting and this could be an anniversary card or an elegant birthday card.

TIP:  Stampin' Up! has detetmined that the Precision Base Plate is required for this detailed thinlit.

Sneak Peek -- Paisley Watercolor

Hi!

One of the benefits of being a demonstrator is early access to new product.  I absolutely love all things paisley so this was number one on my list!

This card used just the Paisley Framelits Die, though I purchased the coordinating Stamp set Paisleys & Posies in the bundle offered and saved 10%!

I die cut the shapes from Watercolor Paper and used my Aqua Painter to apply a light wash of color. Add a few pearls and the happy birthday greeting from Watercolor Words.  I finished it off with some Clear Wink of Stella and worked that around with the Aqua Painter so it's quite subtle. I rounded two opposing corners.

Here are the supplies I used.  They are available to purchase from my online store -- except the Paisley Framelits which are not available for purchase until September 1.

Marquee Messages Birthday

Marquee Messages is one of my favorite stamp sets and I used it to make a card for the birthday of one of my favorite people. The retro image really pops and a little simple fussy cutting gives it dimension. I chose colors that screamed "50's" to me. I started with Shimmery White card stock, which watercolors beautifully, and used my favorite watercolor background technique (tutorial coming soon). The main image is stamped 3 times in 3 different colors.  Cut and layer the images

For a little dazzle add some rhinestone bling and some hand cut silver glimmer paper stars.  I also used the Wink of Stella Clear Ink for some shimmer on the "It's Your" -- oh boy do I love that ink!

I find it easiest to stamp the base image leaving it whole, which gives you a template to place the other images precisely.

Tip:  When stamping with photopolymer stamps use the Stampin' Pierce Mat under your paper. !

Here are the supplies you will need

Marquee Messages Stamp Set
Whisper White Thick Card Stock
Shimmery White Card Stock
Silver Glimmer Paper
Crushed Curry Card Stock
Flirty Flamingo Card Stock
Tempting Turquoise Card Stock
Memento Ink Pad Tuxedo Black
Tempting Turquoise Classic Ink Pad
Rhinestone Basic Jewels

Tear & Tape Adhesive
Window Sheet for watercolor background
