Framing a Happy Birthday

The new Happy Birthday Thinlet has been sitting by my BigShot just waiting to be pressed into service.  Oh....my.....word!  I love it and can't believe it took me so long to try it.  I had an idea in my head for a card to try and it turned out okay.  I'll post that one in a few days.  But I got to thinking about how I could frame the die cut greeting.  Circles and squares didn't work, nor did the oval.  But the largest die from the Lots of Labels Framelits is perfect!

I love how it looks like the greeting and the background are one piece!

While I love clean and simple cards I tend to do card that are a little more feminine. But this guy card was easy to do with the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper.  This DSP is a 6" square stack, I cut a piece in half and it just fits behind the framelit cutout.  I used a layer of Sahara Sand, using a Sponge Dauber to color the edges a bit with Soft Suede Ink

I will say that the easiest way to adhere this greeting is to apply some of the new Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets to card stock before cutting!  But a careful application of "green glue" (aka Multipurpose Liquid Glue) or the Fine-Tip Glue Pen work well too.

I felt that it needed just a little something so I added Clear Faceted Gems.  They're not too sparkly are they?

So that card came together so quickly I had time to make another card using the same idea.  This one is Whisper White on Lemon Lime Twist, using the White Perfect Accents.

I'm going to make up several of these to have on hand!

In the Pink Hello Baby Card

There is just something about pink that oozes sweetness and there is nothing sweeter than a baby girl.   I finally finished the little quilt and needed a card to send along with it.  I don't have any dedicated baby stamp sets but I think the butterfly works!  I'm posting a picture of the little quilt at the end of this post as well.

I just love the new In Color, Powder Pink.  I used the card stock as a layer, the marker to create the "faux ribbon" stripe,  and the ink pad for some splatters behind the butterfly,  The butterfly is from the Bold Butterfly Framelits and was cut from Powder Pink Card Stock.

I don't have (yet) the 3/8" Powder Pink Shimmer Ribbon or I would have used it.  Instead I just used the marker to draw the "ribbon".  I used a Blender Pen and a little Flirty Flamingo ribbon along the edges for some dimension.  And over that I used the Clear Wink of Stella for some shimmer.  I also used the Wink of Stella all over the butterfly for even more shimmer.

While the card base is Whisper White Thick, my stamping layer is Shimmery White.  I love the slight contrast against the white as much as the shimmer.

I used the little splatter stamp from Timeless Textures, stamping in Powder Pink.  The Hello Baby is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and I stamped it in Basic Gray which isn't quite as harsh as Basic Black.  I love those little greetings.

To finish off the card I added some Glitter Enamel Dots and some Silver Metallic Thread.  Oh my word those little dots are gorgeous!  Take a look at them:

Here is the little quilt I made.  The back is Minkee and it is sooooo soft!
