Swirly Snowflake Christmas Card

While Fall has barely arrived, today I'm thinking about simple, mailable Christmas and holiday cards.

I have wanted to use the Swirly Snowflakes Thinlits Die so that is where I started.  I cut the border snowflake from Whisper White, white snowflakes make my heart melt!  I was positive I would love the white snowflakes against Shimmery White Card Stock, but it wasn't my favorite so I grabbed Thick Very Vanilla Card Stock and got the contrast I was looking for.

I stamped the snowflake from Snowflake Sentiments in Versamark.  The greeting, from Hearts Come Home, was also stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with Silver Embossing Powder.  I used the Embossing Buddy over the snowflake to make certain the embossing powder didn't stick to the snowflake.  Swirly Snowflake Thinlits and Snowflake Sentiments are available as a bundle and you get 10% discount when you buy the bundle!

I tied some of my favorite ribbon, 1/4" Natural Trim in Silver, across the top. Simple and done!

Here is the Whisper White snowflake diecut on Shimmery White with 1/8" Silver Ribbon.  Pretty, but not quite as much contrast, though the subtleties are lost a bit with my photography of these cards.

I've got two more simple Christmas cards that I'll be posting this week.

Have you heard?  Coming soon for customers:  Stampin' Blends, Stampin' Up! alcohol makers. Can't wait? You can get them now!  Join my team and you can get them all for $99, but only through October 15!  You get $125 worth of product for just $99 and that includes shipping!  There is no further commitment if you decide being a demonstrator (and getting discounted product) just isn't for you. The Customer Release date has not yet been announced, but Stampin' Up! is making them available to demonstrators for a short period of time.

Mine just arrived and I sat down to try them out.  Here is my first try at them.  They are easy to use, blend beautifully, and Wink of Stella works over them!

Thank you for looking, now, go stamp!

Clean and Simple (CAS) Copper Leaves Thank You Card

This card is inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest — it didn't use Stampin' Up! product but I knew I could make it with my SU supplies.  I love cards with lots of white space but I also love embellishments.  I resisted adding anything else to this card, leaving all that glorious white space.  The photo is a little wonky so I could get the copper to show.

Start with a base of Thick Whisper White.  With a pencil I hand drew an arc.  Using the leaf from the May Flowers Framelits I cut the leaf 3 times at varying angles then trimmed the lower right edge off with my Paper Snips.

From the Copper Foil paper I cut 3 more leaves.  I embossed a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 piece of Whisper White with the Woodgrain Embossing Folder and adhered it to the back side of the front of the card.  Then adhered the copper leaves with Tombow Multipurpose Adhesive .

Emboss the greeting with Copper Embossing Powder.  I used the thank you from Thoughtful Banners.  That's it!  Fast, easy, elegant  — change the greeting to whatever you need!

Tip:  The cool thing about using photopolymer stamps, as I did here, is they can be shaped a little.  I added just a little curve to the greeting to match the line of the arc.

BOO! Halloween Card

There was an Pumpkin Pie "O" die cut sitting on my desk, and it made me think of a pumpkin so I ran with the idea. I grabbed the Large Letter Framelits and cut the rest of the word. These pumpkins won't scare anyone though.

The Woodland embossing folder  embossed on Tip Top Taupe provides the background.  I only embossed the top 3/4.  The "ground" is Always Artichoke cut from the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits.  I stamped the stem from the Jar of Haunts in Basic Black and used my Blender Pens to add a little color.

To make the embossed trees stand out a little more I used an Aqua Painter to highlight the raised parts then used the Clear Wink of Stella for the lines in the trees.  While I love my little pumpkins, turns out the trees are my favorite element on this card.

Base card is Always Artichoke, the top layer is Tip Top Taupe layered onto Basic Black

Watercolor Christmas Sneak Peek

The holidays are just around the corner. Non traditional colors for Christmas cards are a favorite of mine.  I used the stamp set Wonderful Year from the Holiday Catalog available September 1. The bold greetings with the hand lettered brush script look are beautiful!  Using Pool Party paired with Silver Foil gave it the Wintry feel I was going for.

I used my Aqua Painter and the Pool Party Reinker to paint the background onto Watercolor Paper The snowflakes are from the Flurry of Wishes stamp set, stamped in Pool Party Classic Ink.  I masked the watercolor and stamped the snowflakes.  The greeting is stamped over the watercolor in Versamark and heat embossed with Whisper White Stampin' Emboss Powder

I added a few embellishments -- Rhinestone JewelsSilver Metallic Thread and a strip of washi tape from the Affectionately Yours collection.

Tip:  Cut a shape or 2 out of the center of the Silver Foil Sheet.  It keeps the card from being too heavy and makes this paper go further.
