Swirly Snowflake Christmas Card

While Fall has barely arrived, today I'm thinking about simple, mailable Christmas and holiday cards. 

I have wanted to use the Swirly Snowflakes Thinlits Die so that is where I started.  I cut the border snowflake from Whisper White, white snowflakes make my heart melt!  I was positive I would love the white snowflakes against Shimmery White Card Stock, but it wasn't my favorite so I grabbed Thick Very Vanilla Card Stock and got the contrast I was looking for.

I stamped the snowflake from Snowflake Sentiments in Versamark.  The greeting, from Hearts Come Home, was also stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with Silver Embossing Powder.  I used the Embossing Buddy over the snowflake to make certain the embossing powder didn't stick to the snowflake.  Swirly Snowflake Thinlits and Snowflake Sentiments are available as a bundle and you get 10% discount when you buy the bundle!

I tied some of my favorite ribbon, 1/4" Natural Trim in Silver, across the top. Simple and done!

Here is the Whisper White snowflake diecut on Shimmery White with 1/8" Silver Ribbon.  Pretty, but not quite as much contrast, though the subtleties are lost a bit with my photography of these cards.

Feeling Tip Top Taupe!

Okay, you might know that I love neutrals so I jumped at the chance to participate in a Tip Top Taupe & Whisper White Color Challenge. I cannot explain my love of a neutral combo but it makes me happy!

The card stock base is Tip Top Taupe cut 4 1/4" x 8 1/2". Add a Whisper White layer.  On top of that use the Sunburst Thinlits Die cut from Tip Top Taupe.

I used my Clear Wink of Stella on one edge the "bursts" to add some contrast and shimmer. Using the Badges and Banners stamp I stamped the banner and the No 1 circle image in Tip Taupe Taupe ink.  The banner image was stamped off once.  Both images were punched out.  I used the Best Badge and the 1 3/8" Circle punches and layered the circle image onto a Whisper White circle cut from the Layering Circles Framelits.  The Badges and Banners is available along with the Best Badge punch as a Bundle and you save 10%!  Such a deal.

Adhere the punched badge then use Dimensionals to add the circle.  I tucked some Silver Metallic Thread behind the badge and added a few Rhinestones to finish it off.

Not too fussy so I think this would work great for guys!

Copper Graffiti Birthday Card

It's only September but that is when I start thinking about birthday cards for the guys in my family 'cause October comes and there is one guy birthday after another.  I'll be making lots more of this card!  Yep, they'll all get the same one.

This one uses one of my favorite techniques — sort of a variation of "kissing"!  Ink up the stamp, I inked the Watercolor Wash background with Sahara Sand ink, then stamped it onto the Brick Wall embossing folder (stamp onto the side without the Sizzix word).  It leaves the brick design on the background.  Then stamp it onto the Very Vanilla layer.

The greeting is the "happy birthday" from the Watercolor Words set. It was stamped in Versamark then used my Heat Tool to emboss with Copper Embossing Powder from the 2016 Holiday Catalog. Oh my word that copper is beautiful! The combo makes me think of graffiti.

For a really simple card you could leave it alone at this point but I thought a little embellishment would be fun. This is 5/8" Burlap Ribbon, frayed, 3 loops of Copper Thread and a Pretty Pines Thinlits branch cut out of Copper Foil all attached with a couple of staples.

The base card is Crumb Cake, the stamped layer is Very Vanilla layered onto Copper Foil.  The Copper Foil is too precious to "waste" so I cut the middle out of my layer.

Tip:  Before embossing, rub the Embossing Buddy over the paper, It will give you the cleanest surface for embossing.
